This is Uncle Fuzzball, he helps Yoshi take shelter in his squirrel's home, in exchange for protection. Yoshi would always cherrish his kindness and wisdom, although he ends up unable to protect the little squirrels and ultimatelly Uncle Fuzzball pays the price.
